 Content Analysis 

The story 'The Boy Who Drew Cats' by Hasegawa Takejiro is a Japanese folktale.  This folktale hails art which help in the realization of the self.  A folktale is an old story that has been told and retold, having been passed from generation to generation by word of mouth until it was written down. A farmer has many children who are all hardworking, except for his youngest who is small and frail and only interested in drawing pictures of cats. He decides that his son is not fit to be a farmer and sends him to be an acolyte to a priest.

that the boy could never grow very big so his parents thought it would be better for him to become a priest than to become a farmer.

Field Trip Report

OBJECTIVES        As part of the B.Ed. curriculum the trainees were supposed to attend a field trip based on a particular theme. The theme of the field trip for the English Optional trainees was art. In other words, to develop the aesthetic sense, philosophy of art, philosophy of beauty, theory of art, imagination and creativity to become an effective teacher in English was the objective of this trip.
