Unemployment causes and Remedies

    CAUSES OF UNEMPLOYMENT
      1. Lack of Industrialization:
Though we have industries, they are not sufficient to provide employment for our people. Basic industries are lacking and unless nation goes forward and establishes a number of industries and factories it may not be possible to open employment for the jobless millions.
       2. Ever growing population:
Ever increasing population is another problem. Employment opportunities exist for them neither in the private on or public sector. Thus unemployment increases year after year.
.      3. Defective educational system:
Our educational system is not vocational. Hence we are not preparing our students to enter into some vocation after completing education. Even our universities are producing white collard people who create problems of educated unemployment in our country. Our nation cannot provide such white collard jobs for all those youth coming out of universities.
       4. Lack of cottage industries:
Our agriculturists are free for about six months in a year without any productive work. Cottage industries would have solved this problem.
       5. Low purchasing power of the people:
Our people have low purchasing power due to poverty. It is very difficult to find market for the goods produced. Hence chances for providing employment for our people are reduced.
       6. Stay at-home nature of our people:
Most of our people do not want to go out of the country for jobs. They want to remain in their homes. They don’t want to take the risk. Hence our employment problem increases.
       7. Dependence on rain:
Our agriculture mostly depend on monsoon. If the monsoon fails, the result is drought and the farmers cannot do any work and they become unemployed.

REMEDIES FOR UNEMPLOYMENT
The problem of unemployment is very acute in our country. We have enough man power. This unemployment is found among educated as well as uneducated people. Unemployment among educated is really a concern. Some of the measures are given below.
     1. Education should be vocationalised. When our youths come out of schools and universities they need not depend on white collard jobs. They should be prepared to do some business independently.
      2. Cottage industries should be started.
3    3.  Efforts should be made to check the growth of population so that the production can be utilized for the existing population and our industry should be in a position to give employment to the youths.
      4. Farmers should be asked to use the modern tools, equipment’s and fertilizes so that production in the agricultural field increases.
5    5.  Financial assistance should be given to those villagers who try to stand on their own feet.
    6. Agricultural holding should be made more economical and uneconomical holding should be removed. Further sub division of land should be legally checked.
Unless the problem of unemployment is solved with a sense of priority the whole of our planning and policies are going to be affected very seriously. It needs urgent attention to all those who are concerned to take immediate steps to solve this problem of national importance.
